Jia Aili's Hibernation <1>

Jia Aili, born in Dandong, Liao Ning Province; graduated from Luxun Academy of Fine Arts. He moved into Beijing in the next year of his first solo exhibition in Platform China which was curated by Karen Smith in 2006.

His second solo exhibition, or a so-called project is ongoing now at doART Beijing. The project was launched on Nov. 14th 2008, ongoing through out this winter and last till next March. Thus it is titled "Jia Aili's Hibernation".

During the four months, Jia Aili would paint a 600x1200 cm canvas hanging in the exhibition hall of doART Beijing, which is decorated as his own studio.

The huge main work is titled "We Are From The Century", depicting young people in a certain time so-called "century" behave themselves in a expansive barrent land, thus quesiton the life, individual and the whole era. This work is not disclosed to the public until the completion ceremony in March.

Anyhow, there is a documentary movie about his working process playing in another exhibition hall updated over a few days.

He also makes some wax sculpure especially for this show, using the frequent figure in most of his previous paintings. A junior with a red-scarf which is a symbol of the chinese young pioneer, and aslo a mask in the face.
